Free Walking Tours with Open-Air Fado during the Summertime in Lisbon

Join the free walking tours with fado, held in Lisbon every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the summertime (July and August).

These tours cover three of the old neighbourhoods – Alfama, Castelo (Castle) and Mouraria.

You’ll be exploring the narrow cobbled stone streets on foot with interludes of traditional Portuguese fado music.

The Details

The tours start at 6.30pm, and last about 1h30. Depending on the day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), there are three meeting points:

  • Alfama – Rua dos Corvos (next to the stairs)
  • Mouraria – Largo de São Cristóvão
  • Castelo – Jardim do Recolhimento

Each day, fado is sung by a different singer, accompanied by musicians playing the Portuguese and classic guitars (Sérgio Costa and Ivan Cardoso).

Next Friday (16 August), the Mouraria tour will be led by the fadista Inês Pereira. On Saturday, Pedro Galveias will sing while exploring the streets of the Castelo neighbourhood. On Sunday, you will listen to fado performed by Jaime Dias on the streets of Alfama.

The free tours with open-air fado are organised by Junta de Freguesia de Santa Maria Maior (Borough Council) and the Fado Museum.
