Michelin-Starred Restaurants in Portugal for 2025

Eight new restaurants hold a Michelin star, including Marlene by Marlene Vieira, the second woman in almost a century to lead a Michelin-starred restaurant in Portugal.

The eight Portuguese restaurants boasting two Michelin stars in the previous ceremony have repeated the achievement in the 2025 edition.

Prior to Marlene Vieira, only one Portuguese woman Maria Alice Marto had been distinguished with a Michelin star in 1994 and 1996 for her Tia Alice restaurant in Fátima.

46 Portuguese restaurants in total achieved Michelin excellence in 2025. Another female chef Rita Magro was also distinguished together with Vítor Matos for leading Porto restaurant Blind, named after the novel by José Saramago, Nobel Prize in Literature in 1998.

The remaining new additions were the vegetarian Arkhe (João Ricardo Alves, Lisbon), Grenache (Philippe Gelfi, Lisbon), Oculto (Hugo Rocha and Vítor Matos, Vila do Conde), Palatial (Rui Filipe, Braga), Vinha (Jonathan Seiller and Henrique Sá Pessoa (Vila Nova de Gaia) and Yoso (Habner Gomes, Lisbon).

We’ve rounded up all of the restaurants here. You can find seventeen of them in Lisbon, the remaining in the sunny Algarve, as well as in Portugal’s second largest city Porto, and scattered across the country, not forgetting the island of Madeira.

So, next time you’re visiting Portugal and want somewhere for a celebration meal, our list of Michelin star restaurants should help you out.
